MARGAO: Rajat Talak from Margao has been awarded PhD for his thesis titled "Information Exchange and Robust Learning Algorithms for Networked Autonomy" at Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT), USA.
His work focuses on a new field called "Networked Autonomy" which deals with problems in which several autonomous agents or robots interact via a communication network to cooperatively perform intelligent tasks. He was advised by Prof Eytan Modiano and Prof Sertac Karaman at MIT.
During his PhD, he has written and published over eight noted journal papers and 10 noted International conference papers. He has won the best paper award at a premier ACM conference - Mobihoc 2018. He has also co-authored a book with his advisor Eytan Modiano and colleagues Prof Yin sun and Dr. Igor Kadota titiled "Age of Information: A New Metric for Information Freshness" published by Morgan and Claypool Publishers.
He completed his BTech from the Department of Electroinics and Communication Engineering of NITK suratkal. He then pursued his master in science degree(MSc Engineering) from the Indian Institute of Science, (IISc) Bangalore.
For His work, at the masters degree, he was awarded the best thesis gold medal at the hands of then Infosys Chairman, Narayan Murthy. He has also worked as a reasearch associate at IIT-Bombay and TIFR in Mumbai before joining MIT to pursue his PhD.
